Final- Color Study: Squares with Concentric Circles by Wassily Kandinsky
Background: Kandinsky painted his Color Study: Squares with concentric circles in 1913, where he explored vibrant colors through squares and circles. This was crucial in his later studies of more geometric work, and symbol of the cosmos and spirituality. The circles symbolize soul vibration, which reflected his synesthesia (hearing of colors). i really liked his work because of the colors he used and how it weren't perfect circles, but all of them are slightly off.
Plan: I knew I wanted to do plates with his color scheme. I was originally aiming for more like 6 plates; however, I did not have enough time so I only did four. I chose the color combinations that he had based on the ones I liked best.

Reflection: I really like what I created, but I would do a few things differently. First off, I would have done 6 instead of four plates, and I wish I had made them slightly bigger. I also wish I had used the extra pigmented underglazes, and I would have started earlier, so I would have had time to glaze them. Other than that, I really enjoy the color schemes and the lip of the plate that I did.

I like this painting because of the color contrast and cherry blossoms are one of my favorite trees and it looks similar to an almond blossom. I did not construct this piece to the best of my ability and wish I made the branches a lot thinner and more of them. My original plan was to make a jewelry holder and if I had to do it again I would definitely make it bigger and better-looking.
